‘FG recycling Southern Kaduna projects since 1999

All federal government projects initiated since 1999 in Southern part of Kaduna state are still being recycled without completion, former Deputy Governor of the state James Bawa Magaji has said.
Magaji said in Zonkwa at the annual conference of Bajju Development Association (BADA) at the weekend that the few projects initiated by the federal government are repeatedly mentioned in public places as ongoing projects in the area since 1999 without completion.
“The federal government has been making comments about power plants project, water works at Gurara Dam and other few projects since 1999 but none have been completed. Even the Gurara Dam that the federal government often referred to as a big project in Southern Kaduna is not even benefiting the people of the area,” Magaji said.
He urged the Federal government to stop playing rhetoric with projects in the area, as the number of projects executed in the area will determine their votes comes 2015.
The former deputy governor also said political elites from the Southern Kaduna are the major impediment to growth and development of the area, saying the elites have always worked for self interest rather than things that would benefit the entire people of the area.
“In 1999 when I was contesting for the Senate seat, at that time, I was the only person in the ANPP but all the political elites were in the PDP. Even though I did not spend my money in the campaign, the youths backed me. They knew that I was going to the senate to better their lives. In fact, some of the youths and other individuals contributed money to ensure that I excel which made me not to spend a single Kobo from my pocket”, he said.
