Today, the Senate took the first reading of the State of Nation Address Bill. Sponsored by Sen. Ike Ekweremmadu.

The conference Committee report on the transfer of Convicted Offenders(enactment and enforcement) Bill was laid before the Senate.


The supplementary budget request of N161.61bn by Mr President was debated by the Senate; read for the 2nd and 3rd time, and passed by the Senate. The budget was sought, to pay the outstanding arrears of fuel subsidy claims for 2012. The supplementary budget is based on grounds that the provision for fuel subsidy in 2012 budget was underestimated and an additional sum of N161.617bn is needed for the additional subsidy payment for 2012.

Other items were stood down to another legislative date.
