Messi deserves Ballon d’Or award –Onigbinde

Argentina international and Barcelona ace, Lionel Messi, deserves the fourth Ballon d’Or award, says FIFA tactician, Chief Adegboye Onigbinde.
Onigbinde said in a telephone interview with our correspondent, on Tuesday that Messi had been in consistent form since the beginning of the season.
According to the former coach of the Super Eagles, psychological, physiological, technical and tactical abilities were among the parameters used by FIFA in selecting Ballon d’Or winners.
He explained that Messi’s personal comportment on and off the pitch is commendable and added that that some people had mistaken the player’s reserved nature for arrogance.
Onigbinde said physiological ability entails speed, strength, agility, stamina and flexibility.
He said, “If you take two players, one may be very good in three of the physiological aspect. Such a player might score 8 each in three areas of physiological ability, leaving him with 24 marks over 50.”
“Another player might score six marks in each of the five areas of physiological ability. Such a player would be left with 30 marks. There is a difference between performance and result in football just as it is in day to day activities.
“Some other players might be good at creating scoring chances. Players could be assessed along this line too. This is why I said it is not good to assess games by viewing matches on the television.
“The camera’s angle the television gives you is limited. The creator of the goal might not be shown at all on the television.”
