The Mapara Moboluwaduro community of Ifo Local Government Area, Ogun State has been thrown into confusion since Tuesday, May 28, following the abduction of the community’s traditional ruler, Chief Lateef Adewale Amodemaja at about 10p.m.
Daily Sun learnt that Amodemaja was whisked away in his ash coloured Pegeout car at about 10p.m on Tuesday by three men in police uniform. And since then, he had not returned home and his whereabouts remained unknown.
The family said they had visited police posts and stations in the area and could not find him. They later reported the matter at the Eleweran police station.
The incident was said to have happened at the Baale’s office on Aboro Road, by Rafco Bus Stop. His car was later found at Ita Oshin in Abeokuta, Ogun State.
His family, chiefs in council and subjects have been greatly worried about his sudden disappearance.
Asked if the Baale had an issue with anyone before the alleged abduction, one of his chiefs, who craved anonymity said: “We don’t know who is who and we can’t understand that anyone could do this, especially to somebody of his status. We can’t recall a recent problem he has with anyone. We are just worried and can’t understand why this happened.
Eyewitnesses said the men, who took him away wore police uniform but it is strange that they didn’t leave their contacts or address. They just took him off in his car at the odd hour of 10p.m on Tuesday and since then we have been searching for him.
The only thing we have achieved is to find his car in Ita Oshin, which is several miles from where he was taken. This is why we strongly believe that he must have been abducted.”
